Built for Joomla, but there’s a “static PHP” version for WordPress or Drupal. js/CSS instead of Flash. Costs a few bucks.
Pretty good looking. Add user star ratings to posts, plus list the top X reviewed posts in a sidebar or elsewhere.
Make WordPress go all user-rating-and-reviewy.
Here’s a functional way to call a featured post, some not as featured posts, and a list of other posts on something like a category page in WordPress.
In layman’s terms: If this is a category page, do that. If this is a post in category X, do that. If this is an author page, do that. Handy for displaying different sidebar content for different purposes.
A good category’s worth of posts about using WordPress for more magazine-style layouts.
More WordPress permalink manipulation than you need, but I have a few uses for it.
Pull a random image from a category (or categories) and display it as a link to the post, with calls to the post title and other fields, with plenty of room for markup.
Yes, I’ll take one of those, thanks.
