But I do sometimes describe myself, in my more independent, anti-authoritarian, "don't be trying to push me around" moments as a "Damn Yankee." Usually comes with an unsaid but understood "and proud of it." By the way, there's a simple reason why you see fewer homeless folks in Boston. It's just too damn cold! If you're homeless there, you don't survive very long. Not sure why Boston is so much cleaner, except I've come to the conclusion that Californians, much as I love 'em, are simply pigs. I've lived in several other parts of the country, and I've never seen any place as littered and as dirty as California's roadways and cities.
